Dunes in Katwjk

Recently, not much was going on. Thanks to the great weather which we didn't have here. Here a bike trip to Leiden, there a lot of coffee and cake somewhere inside of one of that many cafes in The Hague.

Besides that, the rain went and the wind came. I'm not sure which is better but heavy wind and cycling isn't so much fun either.
Yesterday I went to Katwijk with my bike to see the soccer guys of the dutch national team. A lot of fun with upcoming heavy wind near the coast when I had to cycle through the dunes. Those moments where you wish you had a real sport bike...

Most funny thing, you are in The Netherlands and go to a training session of the dutch national team and the first thing you here is german. German people on vocation... Without a clue about what's going on. No way! Further more, a group of young boys from a soccer camp from Germany. Probably somewhere from the North as they were talking about the recent happenings with the Hamburger SV and why it doesn't run so well there at the moment. And Ruud van Nistelrooy has to come back. Yes.
Also, no great pictures from the training this time, too far away.

I just loooooove this view sooooo much!

Looks amazing, doesn't it? Between Katwijk and Scheveningen.

Baking appelflappen

If you don't know what to do with your au-pair kid or if you just feel like baking like we felt do, appelflappen are the solution!
It is done fast and sooo simple! And, your kid or kids WILL LOVE IT !
By the way, it's typical dutch...

You need:
  • puff pastry
  • 2 big apples
  • cinnamon powder
  • sugar
 How to:
  1. Preheat the oven at 200°C
  2. Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces
  3. Cut the puff pastry into squares as big as a hand
  4. Take a tablespoon and fill it full with apples and place the apples in the middle of one square of the puff pastry and put some cinnamon powder over it
  5. Take an edge of the square and fold it diagonal so that you will get a triangle.
  6. Then press the triangle good together and make sure that all ends are well closed.
  7. Put them in the oven and take them out after 15 minutes.
  8. Enjoy them! :)

Alternatively you can do apple roses.
